On the 11th of October 1944 Francis Beck was part of the 368th Battery, 113th Light Anti Aircraft Regiment attached to the 2/5 Durham Light Infantry. Between 14.00 hrs and 17.45 hrs they were shelled by 88mm and heavier calibre while in Lent, Nijmegen, Netherlands. Two men of his battery were wounded and evacuated and two were killed. One of the killed men is most likely Francis.
Francis was initially buried at the Haagbeukstraat in Lent.
