Navigator-Bomber
Leonard Angell was from Richmond, Surrey (UK) and in 1943 was 23 years old and navigator/bomb aimer in the 83rd RAF squadron. In the early night of June 22, 1943, the Lancaster bomber he was carrying on his way to Krefeld was shot down.
The plane, still loaded with bombs, came down between Oeffelt and Haps, killing all seven crew members. Their remains were first buried in an emergency cemetery and later transferred to the Jonkerbos military cemetery in Nijmegen.
