Theda M. Hornby, 94, 3705 Sixth Ave., died Monday, May 28, 1990, in Countryside Retirement Home following a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Morningside Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Arthur K. Beumler officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today in Christy Morningside Funeral Home.
Miss Hornby was born May 25, 1896, in Sioux Falls, S.D. She lived at Egan, S.D., and Hawarden, Iowa, before moving to Sioux City in 1909. She attended Sioux City public schools. She was a bookkeeper for Day Coal Co. from 1918 until its closing. She then worked for Edwards and Borwne Coal Co.
Miss Hornby was a charter member and past president of the Business and Professional Woman's Club. She was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church and was named Presbyterian of the Year in 1967. She had been an elder and deacon in the church and was a member of Rebecca Circle. She helped found the Christodelphians. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and Girls of '68.
Survivors include four nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
A memorial has been established in her name with Morningside Presbyterian Church.
