John Fow was a Patrolman for the Louisville Police Department in Kentucky. He had been with the Police Force six years. He was shot and killed at the age of 28, in the line of duty. After responding to a call of some boys throwing rocks at Wagons as they passed by a Grocery Store on Bland Street, Patrolman Fow entered the Grocery Store to investigate. The father of one of the boys was there, and shot Patrolman Fow. The suspect fled and was never apprehended. He was survived by: His parents, Louise (Stilger) Fow and August Gustave Fow, and his wife, Bertha (Jadot) Fow, who he married on June 17th, 1911 in Clark County, Indiana. He had two children, a daughter born on Fenruary 13th, 1912, who was born stillborn, and a son, John Hayden Fow, who was born on April 7th, 1913, but died on June 11th, 1916, at the age of 3, from Tubercular Menengitus. His father, August Fow, died six weeks after his son was murdered. No record of his wife was found in the obituary or after he died. It is speculated they may have been seperated or divorced at the time of his death.
