“Grant A. Bowers
“Grant A. Bowers, age 89 of Massillon, passed away Friday morning at his residence. He was born on November 22, 1918 in Youngstown, OH to the late Homer and Ruth (Zedecker) Bowers and was a Massillon resident for most of his life. Grant was a WWII United States Army Veteran. After graduating in 1937 from Sunsbury High School, Grant worked for the Timken Co. and later retired from Tyson Bearing in 1980 following 40 years of service as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for over 60 years, the Beallsville Masonic Lodge, AARP #3336, a past president of the Massillon Senior Center, and volunteered for the former Massillon Community Hospital. Grant enjoyed woodworking, gardening, boating, fishing and hunting. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Robert Bowers and his sister Gladys Bowers. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Bowers, with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage on October 31, 2008; daughters and sons-in-law, Anita (Jerry) Terwilliger, Sr. of Navarre, Nancy (Bob) Blocher of Jackson Twp.; sister, Yvonne Young of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Coleman, Ron Oana, Denise (Danny) Rambo, Jim and Jerry (Emma) Terwilliger, Jr. Funeral services celebrating Grant's life will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Massillon with Pastor Chip Belanga officiating. Calling hours will be Monday 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Arnold – Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will take place at Leavittsville Cemetery in Leavittsville, OH following the services. The family would like to thank, Kathleen, April, Tina and Juanita with Mercy Medical Hospice and Dr. Brian McClain for the loving care given to their husband and father. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Massillon or Mercy Medical Hospice.”
