Anne Wright Morris Berlin was born in Brunswick, Georgia, on February 6, 1925, to Annie and Hervey Morris. After graduating from Vassar College in 1946, she married The Rev. Dr. Jacob B. Berlin on April 26, 1947. They shared a wonderful 57 years together before he died on May 29, 2004. Anne and Jack lovingly raised five children who adored them: Alexander Alan Berlin (Karen), Bartlett Stowman-Berlin (Linda), Christopher Burnett Berlin (Jennie), Letitia Wright Berlin (Frances Blaker) and Deborah Wright Berlin (Sue Aery). Many grandchildren graced their lives, including Benjamin Berlin (Hayley), Matthew Berlin (Christina), Annie Rose Elis (Andrew), Peter Berlin, Alan Berlin and Ben Marchant. Anne was preceded in death by her brother, The Rev. John B. Morris. Anne and Jack's travels took them around the world before settling in Augusta, Georgia, which became "home" for them both. They met at Vassar College after the war and Anne's lifelong love of learning led her to a second degree at Augusta College in History. Anne enjoyed many years working for Dr. Allen Brown and then the Family Practice Department at the Medical College of Georgia, retiring in 1995. She was an avid and accomplished gardener and garden designer. The Berlin yard in Augusta became the most beautiful property under her direction and hard work. A loyal and loving daughter herself, Anne and Jack possessed unconditional love for their five children, passing on their integrity, strength, love, respect and a strong spiritual faith. As a lifelong Episcopalian and Democrat, she was a quiet but stalwart advocate for doing what is right and speaking out when things were against her ethical and socially responsible life philosophy. Anne died peacefully on May 7, 2014, in Newton, North Carolina, with family at her side. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later time in Brunswick and St. Simons Island, Georgia.Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
