JW Culley, pioneer Atwater contractor and resident of the district for 17 years, passed away at his home, 3465 Perlita avenue, on Wednesday, April 13. Aged 82 years ands six months, Mr. Culley was largely responsible for the growth of the Atwater section of the city and personally built many of its homes during his long residence here.
Services held at the Little Church of the Flowers in Forrest Lawn Memorial Park on Friday were conducted by Rev. Herbert Booth Smith, of Immanuel Presbyterian church, Wilshire boulevard, Los Angeles. Internment also was at Forrest Lawn.
Mr. Culley is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fanny Culley, and by three daughters, Mrs. Jessie Gittings, of Chilhowee, Mo., Mrs. CO Snodgrass and Mrs. Floyd Charles, of Los Angeles.
Public esteem in which the veteran builder was held attested by countless floral offerings which were massed in the famous Little Church during the impressive rites.
