Passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014, after a lengthy illness at the age of 90.

Robert was born January 26, 1924, in Saginaw to the late Charles and Louise (Kampfert) Wheatley. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific, and European Theater. Robert married Dorothy Charrey on April 19, 1947; she survives him. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Germania Club. He had been a Scout Leader for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, and playing poker with his friends. He was known to “tinker” with things and was the neighborhood handyman.

Besides his wife Dorothy he is survived by his children, Randall (Debbie) Wheatley, Douglas (LuAnn) Wheatley, and Robert M. (Deene) Wheatley; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mollie Wheatley; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Charlotte Wheatley, Jim Wheatley, Edwin (Elaine) Wheatley, and Harold (Charlene) Wheatley.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Walter David will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. www.casefuneralhome.com
