Maurice Byrd, was born on September 24, 1984 in Upson Co., GA to the late Frankie Mae Byrd and John Jefferson Foster Jr. He received his education in the Lamar County School System. If you knew Jonathan you knew that he was a loving guy someone, who you would find to be trustworthy, admire, and just have fun with. He loved family gatherings and spending quality time with his son. Jonathan slipped away from us on March 15, 2014 and now has reunited with his mother and those that have gone on before him.
He will be cherish in the hearts of his son,Jontavion Malik Byrd, of Barnesville, Grandmother, & adopted mother who loved him as her own Geraldine Foster, Great-Grandmother Mildred Rogers and Betty Jean Rogers all of Barnesville, Sisters, Deborah(Tim)Garland, of Lithonia, and Lecia (Michael) Willis of Barnesville, Brothers, Charles Foster of LaGrange, and Greg Foster of Barnesville, Aunt, Linda Byrd (Stanley )of Covington, GA. Uncles, Benjamin Woods and Rodney (Yolanda )Woods both of Barnesville, Great Uncles, Homer Lee Roussaw, Charlie Frank Rogers, and Johnny Rogers all of Barnesville, Cousins, and devoted Friends Courtney, Barry, and Charya, whom all will miss him dearly.

Authorities say a man out for a Saturday night drive ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time when he was struck and killed by drag racers.
Investigators believe two men were drag racing on Sims Street in Barnesville, when they slammed into a third car, driven by 29-year old Jonathan Byrd. Byrd died instantly in the crash.
