Melanie donated her remains to the Boonshoft School of Medicine, Wright State University of Dayton, Ohio. An annual memorial service will be held in early fall by the university.
Survivors include daughter, Lori A. Ballweg of Beavercreek, Ohio, a son, Aaron A. Funk of Sarasota; four grandchildren, Jensine, Cyndl, Brogan Ballweg of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Zane Funk of Sarasota.
Melanie was retired from the Sarasota County Clerk of Court's office. She was an elegant, loving mother and friend who will be greatly missed. She attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Xenia, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Melanie's memory to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH., 45420.
