Leslie H. McCoy went to meet the Lord on April 28, 2002 at the age of 84 years. He fought till the end of his battle with Progressive SupraNuclear Palsy to maintain his awareness of his surroundings and family.

Leslie was born August 17, 1917 in Gonzales County, TX to Lonnie and Minnie McCoy. He was the fifth child of seven.

Leslie was married to Mildred Jackson 55 years and seven months. He and Mildred had one daughter, Lesley Jean, her husband Charles Medbury III; a grandson, Fred D'Ambrosio and granddaughter, Fara D'Ambrosio.

Leslie served his country three years in Italy during WWII as a B-24 mechanic. After his return, he was a member of the Kelly Field Fire Fighters. In 1949, he founded and owned Southland Petroleum Company and Quick Stop Stores. He was a member of the Texas Oil Marketers. He finally retired to enjoy life in 1990 at the age of 72.

Leslie will be remembered for his great generosity, dry wit and practical jokes. His favorite hobbies included fresh and salt water fishing, traveling, and gardening with emphasis on tomato competition with a neighbor friend.

Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Minnie; sister, Ruby Flynn and brother, Ramah McCoy. He is survived by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, three sisters, Beatrice Wright, Topsy Spear, and Jewel Higdon and her spouse, Bill Higdon; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Joan Ahrens officiating. The Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North.
