Mary S. (Aaron) Martin, 90, of New Oxford, passed peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014 at The Brethren Home Community. She was the wife of William F. Martin, her husband of 68 years.
Mary was born Oct. 5, 1924 in Cumberland, Md., the daughter of the late Harry C. and Mary (Rossworm) Aaron.
Mary was a graduate of Girls Central High School in Cumberland, Md., and raised her family in Sewickley, Pa., where she resided for 20 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford, and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown, Md., and St. James Catholic Church in Sewickley, Pa. Her employment included Western Maryland Railroad in Hagerstown, Md., secretary and receptionist for Dr. Turner in Sewickley, Pa., and Martin's New Oxford Hardware in New Oxford. Mary was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed getting together with her family and many friends.
In addition to her husband Bill, Mary is survived by three sons; Michael F. Martin and his wife Jean of South Park, Pa., Stephen P. Martin and his wife Sandy of New Oxford, and Daniel T. Martin and his wife Barbara of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Christopher Martin and his wife Kim, Geoffrey Martin and his wife Liz, Rebecca Gaborek and her husband Dave, Jessica Polidoro and her husband Chris, Caitlin Martin, Eric Martin, Alyssa Martin, and Emily Martin; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances (Aaron) A. Startzman and her husband Robert of Hagerstown, Md.; brother-in-law, John A. Martin and his wife Martha of Towson, Md., and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Harry, Charles and Patrick Aaron.
Following cremation, a memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Carlisle St, New Oxford, with Rev. Michael Letteer officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
