Army Sgt. Maurice Keith Fortune, 25, of Forestville, Md.; assigned to the Army's 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, from Camp Hovey, Korea; killed Oct. 29 when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Ramadi, Iraq. He is survived by his wife, Amelia; daughter and stepson, stepdaughter and parents, Nida and John Fortune. Posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his meritorious service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He died when a car bomb went off near his vehicle at age 25.
