LYNN — Mr. John P. Mikedis, age 93, of Lynn, passed away at Union Hospital on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014. He was the devoted husband of the late Despina (Tsakeris) Mikedis.
Born in Greece, was the son of the late Panteli and Penelope Mikedis. He has been a resident of Lynn for over 60 years. John enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Ahepa Society. He especially enjoyed cooking as he was a chef at the Continental Restaurant until he retired in 2003. He attended St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn.
John is survived by his son George Mikedis and his wife Anna. He was the loving grandfather of Angela Mikedis and Irene Stefanidis. He was the cherished great-grandfather of George, Georgia, Alex and Anna. John was the brother of Emanuel and his wife Betty, Harriet Kalogredis, Zafira Papagianakis and her husband Peter, and Helen Psillos and her husband John. He was the brother of the late Nicholas Mikedis and Marianthy Paidousis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Service information: His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, followed by a funeral service in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn, at 10 a.m. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours Tuesday, 5-7 p.m. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 South Common St., Lynn, MA 01902.
