Prior to 1823, Elizabeth was married to English immigrant Henry Hyland - probably in New York state. Elizabeth & Henry eventually moved to central Ohio and by 1840 were living in Jerome Township, Union County, OH. They subsequently moved to Concord Township, Delaware County, OH, then moved again to the Union County village of Watkins. Elizabeth & Henry reportedly parented 13 children between the years of 1823 & 1847: Henry Gais (a.k.a. "Geyes") Hyland, Mary Jane Hyland, William George Hyland, Nelson Peter Hyland, Seth Griffith Hyland, (also buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery), Robert Werley Hyland, Elizabeth Ann Hyland, Edward Mead Hyland, Charlotte Hyland, Almira Hyland, Marilla Hyland, David Samuel Hyland, & Maria L. Hyland. Elizabeth's date of birth has been taken from the "Hyland Bible" which is known to contain some "questionable" information.
