Lucy May Beck was born on the 17th of December 1894 in Christian County, Illinois. She was the oldest of four children born to Frederick William Beck, Jr. (1873 to 1954) and Lois May Baulos (1871 to 1967).
On the 12th of October 1916, at the age of twenty-one, she married Robert Russell Gardner. She and Robert had two daughters, Roberta Emily Gardner Schuhmann (1918 to 2001) and Jane Marie “June” Gardner (1924 to 1998).
In about 1928 Lucy and her family moved to Southern California, and were living in Claremont for the 1930 census. On the 1940 census her occupation was listed as a pantry woman at a college.
Her husband, Robert, assed away in 1956. They had been married for thirty-nine years.
Lucy lived for another fifty years, passing away on the 1st of January 1997 at the age of one hundred two.
