Passed away October 26, 2014 at the age of 71. Steve was born June 4, 1943 in Wausau, WI to James and Elsie (Prosser) Powers. Steve loved to travel with the love of his life Ruth, and spend time with all of his grandchildren. Recent travel highlights include a train tour out West and an Alaskan cruise. Steve was a huge Green Bay Packer fan, an avid snowmobiler, and he rarely turned down a chance to go fishing. He also volunteered each month as a cook at the Senior Center in St. Johns. Steve was a member of the Catholic Community of St. Jude in DeWitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome Powers; and sister, Patricia Powers. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Ruth (Paksi); sons, Michael (Becky) Powers, Russell Powers, Mark (Kitty) Powers; sister, Kathleen Green; five grandchildren, Matt, Cassandra, Brianne, Samantha and Maggie; and one great grandchild, Emma.
A funeral mass will be held at the Catholic Community of St. Jude on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the church. Father Bob Irish will officiate. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Contributions be made in Steve's memory to the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge St., DeWitt, MI 48820 or at online giving link
