Marvin "Whitey" Newell Donaldson, 78, of Charlotte, NC, passed away October 25, 2014, at his home. Marvin was born in Charlotte on August 25, 1936, the son of Walter and Mary (nee Moore) Donaldson. Marvin enjoyed going to the flea market and had an unbelievable passion for baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed golf, both as a player and a spectator. Most importantly, he loved his family and friends and was a great man who will be greatly missed. Surviving him are his children: Kelley Donaldson, Jason (wife Megan) Donaldson, and Eddie (wife Louisa) Donaldson; grandchildren: Autumn (husband Phil) Harris; Jessie, Lola, and Lucas Donaldson, Scott (wife Alexa) Steadham, David (wife Brittany) Steadham, and Amanda and Adam Manis; and a great grandson, Drew Harris. Marvin is further survived by 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and numerous other great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Cecillia; a daughter, Marcia; and his parents. Marvin's family has given Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC on Friday, October 31, from 11 AM until the service begins at 1 PM. Following the service, Marvin will be taken in procession to his final place of earthly rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill.
