Philip F. Dunn, MD, 89, of Huntingdon, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at his residence. Born Feb. 1, 1925, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late David and Kathryn (Robb) Dunn. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Crosland June 12, 1948, in Lancaster. Mrs. Dunn survives at home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Philip F. Dunn and his wife, Anita (Bruno) Dunn, of Mount Joy, and Patricia Ann Dunn and her husband, Arthur Hattel, of Port Matilda. He is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn Shellenberger of Somerset and Barbara Mensendiek of Claremont, California. Dr. Dunn was preceded in death by his three brothers, Lewis R. Dunn, J. Malcom Dunn, MD, and the Rev. Stanley Dunn.

He was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School and Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, before receiving his medical degree in 1952 from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
Dr. Dunn served in World War II with the 66th Infantry Division of General Patton’s 3rd Army.
In 1953, Dr. Dunn opened his practice of general medicine in Huntingdon. He served for many years on the medical staff of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. He retired from medical practice in 1994.
Dr. Dunn was a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association and served on the Huntingdon Board of Health for over 30 years.

He was a member of the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, Huntingdon, where he was active in the church choir and served on various boards over the years.

He was an active member of the Huntingdon Rotary Club and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award and served as a member and past chairman of Huntingdon County Children’s Services Advisory Board.

He was a longstanding member of the Huntingdon Men’s Community Chorus and also enjoyed working on his farm.

A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Huntingdon County Children’s Services, Courthouse Annex II, 430 Penn St., Huntingdon, PA 16652, or to the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, 515 Sixth St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.
