She was married to Ray L. Carter on Nov. 16, 1946, in Ellenburg Corners, New York. He predeceased her on March 16, 2002.
Mrs. Carter graduated from Ellenburg Central School with the Class of 1944 and from Loretta Business School, Plattsburgh in 1945. She was employed as bookkeeper for her husband's farm, Carter's Pride Potato Farm, retiring in 1987. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay, and attended St. Peter's Church while living in Plattsburgh. She was a member of the Chateaugay American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Carter was survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty LaBarre of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Lena Whalen of Plattsburgh, Rose Oliver of Plattsburgh; two brothers-in-law, Ross Carter of Ellenburg Corners, Dale Carter of Ellenburg Corners; a sister-in-law, Grace O'Hearn of Ellenburg; several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Lois Putnam and Lori LaBarre Barber.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Bernard, Bruce, Lester, and Louis.
Calling hours were held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home from 11:30 to 12:30 on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 1 p.m. on October 30, 2014 at St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay with Rev. John Yonkovig officiating, assisted by Deacon John Drollette. Organist was Sheila Maneely with Liz Guerin as the soloist. Pallbearers were Lucien Oliver, Larry Whalen, Glenn and Gerard LaBarre, Bill Barber and Jerry Tourville. The pall was placed by Rose Oliver, Lena Whalen and Charles LaBarre. The Crucifix was placed by Betty LaBarre. Readings were done by Lois LaBarre Putnam and Lori LaBarre Barber. Gifts presented by Diane Vaincourt and Lauren Lloyd. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay.
