Rites Tuesday for Cloyd Augustine

KEOTA – Funeral services for Cloyd N. Augustine, 80, rural Harper, who died Sunday morning, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with the Rev. W. R. Cross officiating. Burial will be in the Indianapolis Cemetery.

Cloyd Augustine was born at Rose Hill on November 17, 1884, the son of Michael and Emma Thatcher Augustine. He graduated from Delta High School and Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant.

He was married October 10, 1906 to Kate Lilly Beatty in Delta, who preceded him in death. They farmed in the Rose Hill community before retiring to a farm near Harper 20 years ago. Augustine, who had been living with his children for the last month, served one term on the Board of Supervisors in Keokuk County.

He is survived by four sons; James of Holley, Colo.; Rommel of Rose Hill; John B., Eddyville; and William W. of Keswick; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two brothers; Earl and LJ Augustine of Augustine.
