Lars graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1981, Salina Area Technical College in 1983. Salina Area Technical College later merged with Kansas State University He worked as an airplane mechanic for McFarlane Aviation, Inc. and Executive Beechcraft, Inc.
Lars was a member of Life Church Ottawa. Lars was the lead singer of the Tone Benders and performed at cancer benefits, weddings, and anniversaries.
Lars is survived by his parents; the love of his life, Vicki Gerstner of Ottawa, KS; a son, Jesse Allen and wife, Anahi, of Avondale, Arizona; a daughter, Shannon Hodges and husband, Chris, of Lawrence, KS; two step-daughters, Tori Keller and husband, Mark “Cat”, and Stephanie Hines and husband, Clayton; a step-son, Wil Wierman; nine grandchildren, Emilia, Anthony, Jasmine, Ebony, Phalen, Myles, McKenna, Addison, and Brayden; a brother, Michael “Chuggy” Allen and wife, Maureen Cameron, of Olathe, KS; a sister, Katrina Poeta and husband, Dan, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; a neice, Gabrielle; a nephew, Brendon; in-laws, Connie Williams, Rick Stenzle and wife, Debbie, Pat Gerstner, and Mike Gerstner and wife, Kathy; and mother-in-law, Rosalie Gerstner.
