Jennnifer 'Jen' M. Mullins, 33, Mesa, Ariz., passed away Saturday Oct. 11, 2014.

Jennifer was born on Nov. 26, 1980, in Mesa, Ariz., to Al and Jan Mullins.

Jen had a way with children. She was a well-respected, gifted teacher of special needs children. As an avid animal lover, Jen was a top-notch K9 instructor, and she was just beginning her career in dog training as well as studying to become a veterinary assistant.

Always accompanied by her beloved dog, Riot, Jen enjoyed camping and nature photography. She possessed a unique perspective that made the simplest object into a work of art.

A jen-of-all-trades, she inherited her fathers' mechanical aptitude and ingenuity. If it broke she took it apart to work on it. If she couldn't fix it she made something else out of it. Jen could frequently be found "shopping" in her father's garage, which always made her "Madre" laugh.

Jen's quick wit was a source of endless hours of laughter for her family and friends. She loved irony and never failed to illustrate it in a humorous fashion.

Jen seemed to be born to have wheels on her feet. From a very young age, she began to roll around, graduating to skates, boards, bikes, pickups and motorcycles. Jen shared her parents' passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed visiting the dealers looking for "just the right fit" for her future bike.

She was a joy to be around. Jen was bright, articulate, athletic, kind, nurturing and polite to others. Her first-grade teacher wrote on Jen's report card, "Jenny has more personality than any one person is entitled to." Everyone who knew Jen would agree with the teacher. Jen, her smile and her laughter, will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Survivors include her parents, Jan and Al Mullins, Chandler Heights, Ariz.; maternal grandmother Sandra Nichols, Edmond, Okla.; paternal grandfather Ralph Mullins, Rochester; six aunts, Cindy Ganey, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Lynn (Mark) Sturgeon, Edmond, Okla., Judy (Don) Hughes, Rochester, Linda (Tom) Hardin, Greenwood, Donna (Charlie) Smith, Gilead, and Susan Mullins, Noblesville; and uncle Ron (Deb) Mullins, Chandler, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by Mildred "Millie" Mullins, Rochester.

There was a private gathering at Wyman Cremation and Burial Chapel in Mesa, Ariz., and was attended by Jen's close family members. A wake to celebrate her life will be held shortly after the holidays at a time and place to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jen's name are being accepted by the Arizona Humane Society, 1521 W. Dobbins Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85041, or online at www.AZHumane.org/memorialgifts
