Helen Elaine Hilden, 92, of Cheboygan, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Hospice House of Cheboygan. A resident of the area most of her life, Helen was born January 4, 1922 in Flint, the daughter of Alexander and Ellen (Phaneuf) Ranville.

On May 24, 1947 in Flint, she married Ensio Laine, who preceded her in death in 1969. She later married William "Bill" Hilden in Mt. Pleasant in 1977.

She was employed as a secretary at St. Charles Catholic Church, and later at the Department of Natural Resources, both in Cheboygan, retiring in 1987 after 18 years of service.

Helen was a member of the St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, boating, trips to Mackinac Island with her husband, Bill, and playing pinochle.

Surviving are her husband, Bill, two daughters, Kathy (Allan) Tucker of Mt. Pleasant, and Connie Laine of Kalamazoo; many grandchildren; two brothers, Marcel Ranville of Grand Blanc, and Jeannette Pouliot of Quebec, Canada; two stepdaughters, Linda Howard of Taylor, and Sharon Hilden of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Raymond, Don, and DeVere Ranville, and a stepson, Billy Hilden.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014, 5 p.m-8 p.m., with a scripture service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church. Rev. Joe Ortega will officiate, burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church. Online condolences may be made at www.stonefuneralhomeinc.com.
