Jerry Phipps of Muleshoe died Saturday, June 2, 2001 in Harmonee House in Amherst. He was 97 years old at the time of his death. He was born May 26, 1904 in Collingsworth County. He married Vanell Gilreath June 2, 1951 in Alvarado. She died Sept. 17,1999. He moved to Bailey County from Wellington in 1925. He was a farmer and a member of the
Primitive Baptist Church.
Phipps was preceded in death by a son, James Francis Phipps and two daughters, Eva Mae Phipps Alsup and Maxine Phipps Sessions. Survivors include two brothers, Dudley of Dallas and J.D. of Lubbock; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
