~OBITUARY OF JOSEPH ARCH MIDDLETON

Services for Joseph Arch MIDDLETON, 88, of Centralia, formerly of Laddonia, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Laddonia Christian Church with Reverend Rodger Kiepe and Reverend Finley Price officiating. Burial will be in Laddonia Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Laddonia.

Mr. MIDDLETON passed away at 1:36 p.m., October 25, 2014 at Truman Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Columbia.

He was born December 10, 1925 in Vandalia, the son of William Roley and Gladys LeMasters MIDDLETON.

He was married to Marilyn BOLTZ on April 15, 1951 in Kahoka and she survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, David (Cherri) MIDDLETON of Mt. Vernon, and Kenneth MIDDLETON of Columbia; one daughter, Jane Ellen (Reed) BOSTICK of Columbia; nine grandchildren, Kyle MIDDLETON of Columbia, Brian (Elizabeth) BOSTICK of Centralia; Kirk MIDDLETON of Kansas City, Adam (Meagan) BOSTICK of Jackson, Jarrett (Anabel) MIDDLETON of Anchorage, Alaska, Devin MIDDLETON of Mexico, Matthew and Craig MIDDLETON, both of Mt. Vernon, and Krystal (Eric) KATZER of Olatha, Kansas; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert MIDDLETON.

Mr. MIDDLETON was a lifetime area resident and member of the Vandalia First Christian Church. He was a 1943 graduate of Vandalia High School and then attended Gem City Business College. He entered the Army on April 4, 1944 and attained the rank of PFC. He was wounded in enemy action November 24, 1944 in Lusse, France and spent almost a year recovering in the hospital. He was honorably discharged on September 15, 1945. He returned to Gem City Business College and received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting in 1946. He worked as a cost accountant for AP Green from 1947 to 1954. He farmed and worked as a rural mail carrier. He retired from farming 1985 and from the postal service on November 30, 1990. He was a member of the American Legion Post 510 in Laddonia. he was very interested in genealogy and was instrumental in mapping the Laddonia Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kyle, Kirk, Matthew, Craig, and Devin MIDDLETON, Brian and Adam BOSTICK, and Krystal KATZER. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob SCHLEMMER, Jerry JOHNSON, Joe REMLEY, Jake FREYER, and Burton HOPKE.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico, or the Laddonia Cemetery Association.
