Byron Leslie Pierce Jr., age 72 of Dunsmuir, California, passed away on September 23, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta, California.
He was born on May 27, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. In childhood his family moved to Dunsmuir, where he graduated from Dunsmuir High School.
He then started his career in the railroad industry, where he worked as a conductor/brakeman for over 40 years. During this time he enlisted in the US Army as a medical specialist stationed in Germany.
Upon retiring, he attended College of the Siskiyous where he obtained his Associate degree in Computer Science. He took an interest in computers, bowling and golfing. He was a caring man, loved by many, who enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by his son Tim, his wife Kristen; daughter Debi, her daughter Malissa, all of Redding, California; brothers Trent, his wife Luanne of Castella; Michael, his wife Nancy of San Diego; Jim, his wife Kymberly of Weed; John and Steve, both of San Diego.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sheila; and is also survived by her children: Beri, his wife Krisa and his children Beri Jr. and Grace of The Dalles, Oregon; Tim of Folsom, California; Steven of Dunsmuir and his son Andy of Salem, Oregon; and Reneé of Eureka, California and her children Michael and Nicole.
