YORK Preston L. Keller passed away peacefully at Misericordia Nursing Home on Friday, October 24, 2014. He was the husband of Doris Y. (Waltemyer) Keller and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on April 9th. A son of the late Charles H. and Jennie (Godfrey) Keller, he was born in Dallastown on November 30, 1921. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Red Lion, a lifetime member of Bricklayers and Allied Craft-workers Local #5, as well as a lifetime member of the Dallastown American Legion. Preston worked for H. Robert Eppley & Son, Fitz and Smith and various other contractors in York County. He was very proud of his craftsmanship and his skills are evident in buildings throughout York County, including York College, numerous schools and churches, Yorktowne Hotel, York Expo Center and other well-known historic landmarks. He was an avid gardener who loved raising large tomatoes, potatoes and various vegetables and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant, stationed at Hickham AFB in Hawaii. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, Good Conduct, American Campaign, WWII Victory, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medals. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Gayle Keller Sanders and husband Don, Kathy L. Keller, Lisa Keller Wallace and husband Charles, all of York; two grandsons, Brian J. Sanders and wife Jaymie of Hellam and Brock E. Wallace of Elizabeth-town; and two great-grand-sons, Devyn J. and Skylar J. Sanders; and various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Preston L. Keller, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Spurgeon, Raymond, William, Charles, and infant brother at birth, Helen, Violet, Marguerite, Isabelle and Ferne. The family wishes to express their appreciation to all of the caregivers and staff at Broadmore Assisted Living and Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as well as family and friends who offered their support. A funeral service to honor Preston's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29 at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Pastor Timothy Funk officiating. A viewing will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday and will begin at 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Paul's U.M.C., 45 First Ave., Red Lion, PA 17356.
