Francis S. "Frank" Findlay, 82, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Loraine (Crawshaw) Findlay, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Frank was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Manchester, son of the late George Findlay and Martha Timmins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving his country during the Korean War. Frank began his career working for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and later was the owner of Garner's Rug & Upholstery Cleaning until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Lodge 73 AF & AM and was a member of the Sphinx Shriners where he was a member of its motor patrol. He was an avid car collector and enjoyed driving them and attending car shows in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Melony Anderson of Vernon; his sons, Mark Findlay of Bristol, and Jayson Findlay and his wife, Dee, of Brimfield, Massachusetts; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Frank especially appreciated the support of his nephew Tim Edwards and his family; his niece Linda Findlay; and the Visiting Nurses of Vernon. He also leaves two sisters, Judy Hummel of Manchester and Terry Beal of Florida; several other nieces and nephews; and his dear friend Helen Scharp. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son, Craig Findlay; his sister, Diane Edwards; and his brother, Donald Findlay.

Graveside services with military honors will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. in Section B of East Cemetery, Manchester.

There are no calling hours.
