RUIDOSO, NM - U. Col. USAF (Ret.) Danny Weston McGuire, 67, of Ruidoso, NM, entered into rest Friday, December 22, 1996, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM after a brief illness.
Danny was born in Miami, Arizona, December 14, 1929, to Ivan McGuire and Mittie Caudill McGuire. He had lived in Hatch, NM, Las Cruces, NM, Shreveport, Louisiana and for the last 15 years had lived in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the Air Force for 26 years; his first tour was Kirkland AFB in Albuquerque, NM and he ended his career in 1976 at Barksdale AFB In Bossier City, LA. Danny was an Office of Special Investigations Officer and the District Commander in Rome, Italy. From 1976 to 1981 he was a professor and taught Criminology at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA and from 1981 to 1995 he was a realtor in Las Cruces, NM and Ruidoso. NM.

Danny graduated from high school at Hatch High School in Hatch, NM. He received his Bachelor of Science from New Mexico State University and his Masters of Criminology from Michigan State University. His Air Force Tours stationed him and his family all over the world including Germany, Hawaii, Washington, D.C. and Rome, Italy. While at Rome, he was stationed at Ciampino "NATO" Air Force Base and was on the Ambassadors Staff at the American Embassy. He was an Officer, Gentleman, Friend, Son, Brother, Father and Grandfather.

Survivors include his mother, Mittie McGuire of Las Cruces, NM; his two sons, Scott McGuire and his wife, Sharon of Benton, LA and Brett McGuire and his wife, Lori of Nashville, TN; one daughter, Dona Bergman and husband, Jeff of Orviedo, FL; four grandchildren, Christopher McGuire, Kyle Bergman, Cody Bergman & Christopher; one brother, Melvin McGuire and wife, June of Las Cruces; and ex-wife Dorothy McGuire of Orviedo, FL. He was preceded in death by his father Ivan "MAC; McGuire.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, December 23, 1996 at 3:30 p.m. at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road, Las Cruces, New Mexico. Rev. Bryan Simpson of St. Pauls United Methodist Church will officiate. Funeral arrangements will be performed by Graham Mortuary, 555 W. Armador, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
