RICHMOND – Thelma Hunt Dixon Bagwell, 93, of the The Hermitage, Virginia United Methodist Home, passed away peacefully Oct. 22, 2014, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her parents, Fowler Trawl and Patsye Garner Hunt of Hyco Road, South Boston; her first husband, Luther William Dixon Sr.; and later her second husband, Werner Wright Bagwell.
Thelma attended Longwood College and taught for Halifax County Schools for 35 years. She loved music, her family, gardening and walking. She could be seen outside of the Hermitage most days, greeting people on the front porch Her kind humor, gentile spirit and accepting loving nature marked her as a true southern lady. She especially enjoyed sharing her musical talents by playing the piano for the "old" people.
Thelma was greatly loved by her children, Luther (Bill) and Debbie Dixon Jr., Robert and Joyce Bagwell, Charles and Louise Bagwell, Harriet and Bob Coffin; her grandchildren, Trippe Dixon, Wendy Dixon, Karen and Jeff Hansen, Bill, Wright, Charlie, Ted and Peter Bagwell, Jon and Peter Coffin and Katie and Jon Teague; and great-grandchildren, Skyler Dixon, Parker and Taylor Hansen, Oliver Bagwell and Annie, Hope and Norah Teague.
A celebration of life memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct, 25, 2014, at The Brandermill Church, 4500 Millwood Parkway, Midlothian. The family will greet friends to share stories and memories at 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
