She lived with Catherine Campbell "Kate" Hart, wife of the 10th governor of the state of Florida, until she was sent to attend schools in CT and NY.
It was during this time that she met her future husband, George Ernest Waldo, son of George Waldo and Sarah Ellen Jagger. He was a Republican Representative for the state of New York. At about 33 years of age she married him, age 45, at the home of her father on 11 May 1896 in Tallahassee, FL.
