Ruth E. Stanley, 96, of Greeley died Saturday, July 13, at Fairacres Manor of Greeley.She was born on Nov. 17, 1905, in Decatur, Neb., to Elias and Lena (Calnon) Method. On June 28, 1925, she married Vern Stanley in New Raymer. He died on May 9, 1980. Mrs. Stanley grew up in Decatur and moved to New Raymer at the age of 13. She graduated from New Raymer High School in 1924. In 1935, she moved to Keota. She taught school during World War II in Keota and Buckingham. She was appointed postmaster of Keota in 1952 and remained postmaster until her retirement in 1973. Mrs. Stanely enjoyed hobbies such as ceramics, painting and writing poetry. Survivors are two sons, Donald Stanley of Littleton and Victor Stanley of Greeley; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by three daughters, Mary Elenor Stanley, Margaret Stanley and Ruth Joan Stanley. Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Adamson Downtown Chapel. Friends and family may visit from noon until 7 p.m. at the Downtown Chapel. Interment is at Keota Cemetery.Contributions may be made to American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in care of the the Downtown Chapel.
