Scott David Walters
December 17, 1972 - October 23, 2014

Scott David Walters, 41 of Canton, GA passed away on October 23rd 2014. He was born on December 17th 1972 in Tampa, Florida. Scott leaves behind his wife, Marjorie of 16 years and their eleven year old son Joshua. When Scott wasn’t at work you could find he and Joshua in the woods, hunting, camping, canoeing, shooting or anything they could find to do together. They were each others best friends and always loved being together.
Lt. Walters served honorably and with distinction for the community of Roswell, GA with the Roswell Police Department since January 1997. Listing all of his accomplishments throughout his 17 year career would take several pages. To name a few, Scott was a Field Training Officer, the FTO Coordinator, a Jail Instructor and a firearms instructor. He served as a motors officer for special events. Most recently he commanded Roswell Police Department’s Uniform Patrol “C” Squad, but his influence was reached well beyond one squad. There is a void throughout the Police Department that will never be filled. We stand watch together, a thin blue line.
Scott is preceded in death by his mother Janet W. Walters and his grandparents H.K. and Evelyn Walters. He is survived by his parents Johnny and Michele Walters, Aunt and Uncle; Patsy and Steve Saxs and his cousins; Sara and Benjamin Saxs. He leaves behind childhood friends; Frank and Don Warren, Paul Fernandez and Fernando Amador.
The Lord proclaimed, step forward now officer, you’ve borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets, you’ve done your time in hell
The viewing will be at Darby Funeral Home in Canton, GA from 5-8pm on Sunday, October 26th 2014. The funeral will be held at Woodstock Baptist Church at 2pm on Monday October 27th 2014. In Lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to a scholarship fund that has been set up for Joshua Walters, the place of the fund will be announced later.
