G. W. Landis was a minister in the Dunkard Brethern Church. Information concerning him and the Brethern Churches in Oklahoma are found in the Brethern Encyclopedia and the "1922 History of the Church of the Brethren in Oklahoma Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana".

The Mount Hope Church of the Brethren was organized in July 1890 with 16 members.It was located 14 miles NW of Guthrie in Logan County, Oklahoma Territory. The log church was built in 1894 but burned in 1909 and rebuilt the same year. It was disorganized in 1917.

Six Landis burials are listed for the Mount Hope Cemetery aka Dunkard Cemetery NW of Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma, where the church was located, Lanids names listed ( ): Arelia (wife of G.W.) , Carrie M. (wife of F.B.), Martha A. (dau. of G.W. and B.A.), Mary A. (wife of J.A.), Nora
Bell (dau. of J.A. and Mattie J.), and Seth R (inf. son of J.A. and
Mary A.).

George W. Landis is listed as a minister of Mount Hope in Logan County, and Frank B. is listed as Supt. of the S.S. in 1894.

In addition to the Logan County Mount Hope Church, G. W. Landis held Brethern meetings elsewhere in Oklahoma at the following locations and years (most locations were far distances and required much travel time):

1892, Brother Landis was filling the pulpit at three different brethren groups while conducting funerals in those communities.
1894 and 1900 at Cottonwood Creek Church, Kingfisher County,
1899, Jan 14th New Hope Church of Macomb, Pottawatomie County, is organized.
1908, November near Jennings, Pawnee County,
1902, Landis sold his farm leaving the Mount Hope Church in Logan County without a minister.
1905 G. W. Landis was given the oversight (eldership) of the New Hope Church of Macomb.
1908, November near Jennings, Pawnee County,
1910 at the Bright Star Church, Greer County,
1911 New Hope Church of Macomb is disorganized,
1912 at Big Creek Church near Cushing, Payne County,
