Hastings resident, Wayne “Tim” Clark Curtis, 72, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska after a battle with cmml cancer also known as leukemia.

Graveside services with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014; 3:00 P.M. in Block “O” at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings with Pastor Mel Johnson officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to the family.

Tim was born August 21, 1942 in Hastings, Nebraska to Virgil “Jack” Kohlman Curtis & Ruth Belle (Clark) Curtis. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1961. Tim’s mother passed away when he was 15 years old. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1959 until 1963. Tim married Dana Lovejoy; they later divorced. They had one daughter and one step-son to this union, Barbara Ann Curtis and Michael Lee Ingersoll. He moved back to Hastings after living in California for 20 years. He married Cheri Lee Hartzell in 1999; she preceded him in death in 2012. They had three step-sons and one step-daughter to this union, James Dean Szafradja, Scot Szafradja, Chris Szafradja, and Rebecca Szafradja Utter. Tim finally got his first granddaughter after 32 years, Jessica Lee Curtis-Kobelenz. He worked at ITT Cannon in Orange County, California and Case New Holland in Grand Island before retiring in 2005. Tim attended First Christian Church and enjoyed old cars, grilling steaks, gardening, and was very close to his Chinese Shih Tzu, Charlie. Hanging in the Hastings Museum there is a picture of Tim running a camera for Channel 5.

Tim was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maybelle Clark; mother, Ruth Belle Clark Hoffman; step-father, Carl Hoffman; wife, Cheri Lee Hartzell Curtis.
