Cecelia was the daughter of George Hackett Swift and Rebecca Nurse. Her father may have died on February 6, 1883. Her mother died on April 5, 1919.

She was born in Burton upon Trent, which is very close to Derbyshire. However her immigration record states that she was born in Church Gresley (where the family once lived) and her funeral record states that she was born in Woodville (where her son was baptized).

She was married to Frederick Crutchley during the last quarter of 1902 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire (which is close to Derbyshire where the family lived a few years later).

Cecelia was the mother of William Frederick Crutchley and Hilda Clara Crutchley Banks.

Cecelia, Frederick, and William made at least one trip to the United States prior to immigrating in 1919. Their incoming record in 1919 stated that they had previously sailed to Boston on the ship Megantic, arriving on April 20, 1910. That passenger manifest indicates that his closest relative was his brother John Crutchley of the address '4 Justice Road, Fishponde, Bristol.'

Her husband Fred Crutchley immigrated to Montreal, Canada in October of 1919. Cecilia, William, and Clara immigrated to Canada on December 8 and immigrated through Rouse's Point, New York on Christmas Eve of 1919.

A physical description of Cecelia at age 40 when she arrived in the United States:

Height- 5 ft. 6 in
Complexion- fair
Eye color- blue
Hair color-light brown

Cecelia died at the age of 74 at 6630 West 147th Street in the Tinley Park section of Bremen Township. Her funeral was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg at 2:00pm on July 17. Rev. George McPherson Hunter officiated at the service.
