The following is a poem written by my uncle Hugh at the end of his life story that is too long to put on FAG.
I am going to end this now, by including a little poem he composed to leave to all of his loved ones.
IF I GO FIRST AND YOU REMAIN
DON'T EVER FEEL ALONE
JUST SIMPLY DIAL MY NEW HOME
ON YOUR CORDLESS TELEPHONE
IF MY LINE IS BUSY OR I'M NOT AT HOME
BE ASSURED THAT ALL IS FINE
JUST LIFT YOUR EYES TO THE SKIES
AND YOU'LL SEE ME SITTING ON CLOUD NINE
DO NOT GRIEVE OR WASTE YOUR TIME
THINKING WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN
KEEP DOING THE THINGS YOU'VE ALWAYS DONE
NO MATTER WHAT OR WHEN
SPEND MORE TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS
GIVE GENEROUSLY OF YOUR LOVE
TAKE SOME TIME TO PREPARE YOURSELF
FOR YOUR JOURNEY UP ABOVE
HAVE NO FEAR OF FACING DEATH
THE JOURNEY IS BRIGHT AND CLEAR
AND ALL THE THINGS AWAITING YOU
ARE FILLED WITH LOVE AND JOY AND CHEER
GOD WILL SHOW YOU WHAT TO DO
HE'LL BE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY
AND I'LL BE THERE TO TAKE YOUR HAND
ON THAT BEAUTIFUL AND GLORIOUS DAY
WE'LL BE TOGETHER AGAIN AT LAST
AS WE WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO BE
SIDE BY SIDE WE'LL CLIMB THE STAIRS
ALWAYS AND FOREVER--YOU AND ME
