The Knightstown (IN) Banner, Friday, September 4, 1903
"Miss Mae Hinshaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hinshaw, Kennard, died on Friday last from peritonitis. She had been sick only a short time, and the news of her death came as a shock to her friends throughout the county. She was a second cousin of Joe Hinshaw, of this city. The funeral services were held Monday at the Catholic church in this city."

The 1900 Census has her name but it is difficult to read. It could be Lonna. Her obituary refers to us as Mae. Her death certificate refers to her as Mae. Her father's obituary refers to her as Louva May. Her mother's obituary does not mention her.

According to Miss Hinshaw's Death Certificate, her Chief Cause of Death was Malaria Fever which she had for four weeks and her immediate Cause of Death was Peritonitis which she had for three days. Fortunately, there are far fewer cases of Malaria in the US than there have been in the past. I'm sorry she suffered so much.
