WILLIAMSBURG - Anna Lee Carter, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014. Born Nov. 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Lois and George McAlwee and was a lifelong resident of Newport News. Anna Lee married Jim Carter on Oct. 23, 1954 and was previously employed by the Newport News School System and Casey Marine as a clerk. Survivors include her husband of sixty years, James L. Carter; daughter, Julia Massie and her husband, James; son, Brian Carter and his wife, Brenda; sister, Phyllis Shields and her husband, Melvin; granddaughters Deana Seymour and her husband, Rob, Michelle Maleski and her husband, Chris, Julianna Massie; and great grandchildren, Sean Seymour and Shelby Seymour. The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Law officiating. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
