WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. Johnny Summers McDaniel, Sr. passed away at his home early Tuesday morning, October 13, 2009. He was born on June 4, 1904 in Rowan County, to the late Albert and Ida Summers McDaniel.
Johnny was a long-time member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco as a machine operator, with 25 years of service. Johnny was founder and past owner of M & M Flower Shop.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nellie Meeks McDaniel.
Surviving are one son, Johnny S. McDaniel, Jr. (Wilma) of Clemmons; two daughters, Ruth McDaniel Smith (Richard) and Joanne McDaniel Moorefield (Harold), both of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Fletcher, Pastor Ken Harris, and Pastor T. W. Bailey officiating. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Service.
