Bro. Dean "Pap" Carpenter, 92 of Mt. Vernon, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 surrounded by his family at home. He was born in Jackson County, KY on June 29, 1929 the son of Charlie and Letha Cole Carpenter. He was a minister of the Gospel for over 50 years. He was a pastor and evangelist for the Kingdom leading many to Christ over the years. He was an avid musician, playing any stringed instrument, especially his guitar. His gift of playing and singing was enjoyed by many. He was a proud US Army veteran who loved gardening, fishing in the Rockcastle River, riding around the block, and spending time with his family.


He is survived by his granddaughters, Patricia McGuire and husband Tim of Brodhead, and Kelly McClure of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Chase McGuire and wife Samantha of Mt. Vernon, and Caymen McClure and wife Shelby of Brodhead. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tesaleen; a daughter, Judy Croucher; two brothers, Bill and Everett; and a sister, Virgie Ferguson.


Funeral services for Bro. Carpenter will be conducted Saturday, January 1 at 1:00 PM at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Lonnie McGuire with music by Jason Medley. Burial will follow in the Morning View Cemetery. Friends may call at Dowell & Martin Funeral Home after 11:00 AM Saturday.
