Excerpts from The Evening Times, January 7, 1897, p. 2:

...a former resident of this city died of softening of the brain...at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. D.B. Doremus.

Widow of James E. Sebring, for 20 years a clerk in the Sixth Auditor's office, who died here two years ago.

She was the daughter of James Requa, a member of the prominent Westchester, NY, family.

Survived by four children, three of whom reside in this city. The eldest is Mr. Francis A. Sebring, assistant cashier at the Ohio National Bank. The other three are Mrs. Clayton I. Croft & Mrs. Emma Lawrence, and Mrs. Doremus of Mount Vernon, NY.
