Jason was the son of Nathaniel Shaw and Freelove Harris Shaw. He was born about 1844 in Angelica, New York. In 1856 he emigrated to Reedsburg, Wisconsin with his mother and three sisters and in-laws. He died during the Siege of Vicksburg on May 28th, 1863.
