Phannenstiel was a farmer. He was a member of Brighton Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald, Brighton, and Ronald, Wheat Ridge; a daughter, Shirley Garramore, Westminister; a brother, Joseph, Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Helen Dinkle, Hays, and Christine Kreutzer, Arcadia, Calif., and seven grandchildren.
