Velva Sarah Scholl, daughter of Ora (West) and James L. Smith, was born Nov. 2, 1919, near Van Wert. On July 17, 1944, Velva married John Franklin Scholl in Eklton, Md. They lived on a farm northeast of Murray. Velva worked as an accounting clerk 16 years for Iowa Publix Employees' Retirement System in Des Moines
Survivors includes her two daughters, Venita (husband Dale) Escher of Murray and Deloris (husband Dale) Barnett of Orient; brother Mansel Smith of Newell; and four grandchildren.
Velva was preceded in death by her parents, son Francis in 1973, husband in 1975, sisters Marie Beck and Maxine Woodard and brother LaVonne Smith.
