Virginia H. (Gibson) Denly, 86, of Lorimor, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Virginia was born August 6, 1918 in Union County, Iowa, the daughter James and Guyda (Gorr) Gibson. She married John Denly in October of 1936; he preceded her in death on August 19, 1992. Virginia was a graduate of Lorimor High School. As a young woman she taught country school in Union and Clark County and later was a substitute teacher in Lorimor, Thayer and East Union.

Virginia was also a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist Church and was active in the UMW. She was a member of Eastern Star and a past member of the Lorimor Lioness Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Marvin) Bennett of Dexter; two sisters, Pauline Neisimier of Murray and Betty (Don) Campbell of Pekin, Illinois; one brother Gerald Gibson of Lorimor; two grandchildren, Larry (Sherry) Bennett of Desoto and Laura Bennett of Earlham; and two great grandchildren, Joshua Bennett and Michael Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Larry Eugene; a grandchild Linda Dianne; three brothers, Eugene, Junior and Paul Gibson and two sisters, Christina Gibson and Kathryn Hiskey.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 19, 2004 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset; where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the Lorimor United Methodist Church of Lorimor. Burial will be in the East Union Cemetery, Union County, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Lorimor United Methodist Church and the Madison County Ambulance Service.
