Mr. Nefflen was the son of the late Emil H. and Mary (Louden) Nefflen.
He was a student at West Virginia University in 1876 and 1877.
At the age of 16, he was an apprentice watchmaker at Piedmont and later conducted business in that field at Keyser and Lonaconing, Md.
He came to Elkins in 1904 and established a watch making and jewelry business from which he retired a few years ago.
He was a past president of the Elkins Businessman's Association.
He held 50 year membership plus in Keyser Lodge A.F. and A. Masons and the Keyser Knights of Pythias.
On October 14, 1896, he was wed to Miss Carrie (Ewald) who survives him, as well as the following children, Paul Edward Nefflen, a resident of Vergennes, Vermont; Fred Nefflen, Ashland, Ky.; Commander Edward Nefflen, stationed with the Navy at Dallas, Texas; Lieut. Louis H. Nefflen, located with the Army at Trinidad, Colo.; Mrs. John D. Farmer, Mullens, W. Va.; and Karl Nefflen, Washington D.C.
Also surviving are a sister, Miss Bertha Nefflen, Elk Garden, and a number of nieces and nephews in Cumberland, Md.
