Evelyn K. Bein, 87, of Davenport, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Grandview Terrace in Davenport.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Runge Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Grandview Terrace or United Action for Youth in her memory.

Evelyn Kathryn Arp was born November 13, 1910, in Scott County, the daughter of Adolph and Lena (Wiese) Arp. She married Lawrence Emil Bein in 1931. Together they farmed near Walcott. Lawrence preceded her in death on April 14, 1956. She continued to farm with her son, until 1962 when she moved to Davenport. She was a member of Royal Neighbors Walcott Camp for over 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and traveling to the mountains.

Surviving are three daughters, Gail Harmsen of Durant, Gloria Neckerman of Iowa City and Ginalie (James) Swaim of Iowa City; one son, Gary (Karen) Bein of Davenport; 12 grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Frances Arp of Eldridge and Gladys Bein of West Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two infant sons, Gene and Gerald Bein, two sisters, Edna Eilers and Ella Puls and four brothers, Raymond, Walter, Emil and Albert Hein.
