Evelyn Delois Burnett, 67, of South Bend, died Sunday in her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Burnett was born October 21, 1946, in Little Rock, AR, to the late Virgie B. (Olloway) and Tommie Whitfield, and had lived in South Bend since 1980. She is survived by three daughters, Sheila Marie Halcomb-Pendleton of Lexa, AR, Tracy Mwachande of South Bend and Becky L. Halcomb of Savannah, GA; three sons, Craig L. Whitfield (Tracy L.) of St. Louis, MO, Allen E. Halcomb (LoAnna) of Kansas City, KS, and Shannon M. Fox of South Bend; 20 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mattie B, Frierson of Chicago, IL, and Leonia Simpson of Markham, IL; and five brothers, Alfred Whitfield (Laura) of St. Louis, Charles Whitfield (Jane) of Chicago, Frank Whitfield of South Haven, MS, David Whitfield of Olympia, WA, and Lawrence Whitfield of Lexa. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Julius Whitfield (Iris), Teresa Gilmore, Tommy Whit-field, and Burgess Whit-field (Rudy). Mrs. Burnett was employed by the South Bend Community School Corporation as a bus driver, retiring after 16 years of service. Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our lifelong extended family, Merry Kay and John Bennett. We love and will cherish everything you've done for our family. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25th, in Chain-O-Lakes Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 26807 U.S. Highway 20, with Mr. Lushon Charleston officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Kingdom Hall from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
